  • The remains of a distinguished Viking have been rediscovered after being considered missing for more than a century. The decades-long confusion surrounding the remains of an eminent Viking occurred due to a mislabelled crate. The error was only rectified by chance. “I was puzzled about it”, Ulla Mannering at the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen, whose crew helped to reveal the mislabel, said. “We were all wow with this idea”.

  • Parts of China’s Long March 5B rocket are falling back to the Earth and are feared may land on an inhabited area, The Guardian reported, citing Jonathan McDowell, astrophysicist at the Astrophysics Centre at Harvard University. Although it is hard to predict where the debris will land, the impact could be the “equivalent of a small plane crash scattered over 100 miles”, McDowell warns. Judging by its orbit, it may hit the ground around 10 May anywhere in an expansive area ranging from as far north as New York, Madrid, and Beijing and to as far south as Chile and New Zealand.

  • [Is that a good reason?] New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said on Monday that individuals, who get their first CVD vac cines in May will get a free beer. The “Shot and a Beer” programme is aimed at increasing participation in the state’s immunisation drive.

  • US District Judge Alison Nathan ruled on Monday to delay the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, planned for 12 July, until the fall of 2021, according to Reuters. The postponement came on the grounds of further charges earlier added to the case by federal prosecutors and difficulties due to coronavirus-related restrictions. Nathan ordered prosecutors and the 59-year-old suspect’s lawyers to propose a specific trial date by 10 May. Maxwell’s possible prison sentence increased to 80 years as prosecution revealed a new victim in March and charged the suspect with two additional crimes.

  • Earlier this spring, Sweden, together with many nations across the globe, paused the use of the AstraZeneca vac cine after reports of serious blood clotting and haemorrhages among its recipients, only to later resume its use for people aged 65 or above. The Swedish government plans to donate one million doses of AstraZeneca’s controversial vac cine to the international collaboration Covax, whose aim is to deliver CVD shots to developing countries free of charge.

  • As Joe Biden marked World Press Freedom Day with praise of heroic independent media, his government still seeks to jail Julian Assange of WikiLeaks for the act of journalism, said NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. The famed national security whistleblower took the administration to task on Monday, after Secretary of State Antony Blinken boasted of the US devotion to “press freedom” and “the safety of journalists worldwide.” Assange’s ongoing prosecution is impossible to square with those vows, Snowden said.

  • Two UK intelligence agencies are actively recruiting “neurodiverse” individuals and tech wizards – in the moulds of iconic code-breaker Alan Turing and James Bond’s ‘Q’, respectively – to tackle emerging cyber-security challenges. The Secret Intelligence Service, better known as MI6, has put out a job advert for a “Director General Q” to lead a team of boffins that turn “disruptive technologies from threats to our operations into opportunities” to help with its mission against the country’s “hardest adversaries.” The successful candidate, who will not be “publicly avowed,” will answer to MI6 chief Richard Moore. Over the past week, Moore took to radio and social media to pitch the vacancy. According to the ad, the role is meant for a “senior entrepreneurial leader, with experience leading a cutting-edge digital, technology, or engineering business, and a track record of delivering digital transformation and cultural change.” “In this one, life imitates art,” Moore said in an interview with Times Radio. “We were reshaping it a few years ago and we couldn’t think of the right name for it and in the end, we thought, ‘Well, come on, let’s go for it,’ and so we decided to call it Q.”

  • Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed legislation banning all business and government entities from requiring proof of vaccination status and has ordered that all remaining city and county Covid-19 restrictions be lifted. The new law, which will take effect on July 1, follows through on an emergency order that DeSantis signed in April to ban so-called vaccine passports. At the time, he urged the Florida Legislature to make it tougher for a future administration to overturn the ban by passing a bill to make it permanent.

  • On Saturday, the Arizona forensic audit continued at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in downtown Phoenix. In Arizona, for months the Board of Supervisors in Maricopa County have complained about calls for a forensic review of the ballots in this large and crucial county. The Board members guaranteed everything was fine but they won’t let anyone get close to their results. They spent weeks after the election messing with ballots before they formally concluded the election results. However, regardless of their efforts to prevent an audit of the Maricopa County results the forensic audit is now taking place at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The election workers are running true forensic testing on the ballots! The number of illegal votes in Maricopa County could easily reach more than 250,000 votes.

Volcanic Eruption In Iceland

New fissure openings have formed several times since the eruption at Fagradalsfjall, Iceland began on March 19, 2021. On May 2, the activity at the volcano changed, producing huge lava fountains — the biggest since the eruption started. Lava fountains were seen reaching about 300 m (985 feet) above ground lasting from 3 to 10 minutes. The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) confirmed considerable changes in volcanic activity, starting at around 01:00 LT on May 2.
