  • Italy – 35,000 truck drivers protest against the green pass “We will block the highways, start to shake”. The truck drivers become the protagonists of the protest and in some videos they state: “Four puppets in government are making 60 million Italians what they want, they are taking away everything: rights, duties, freedom and dignity. We are back in the days of the dictatorship. Do you want to mark us? You have marked the sheep, now try to mark the wolves.”

  • American Republicans called on the United States to impose sanctions against Australia this week in response to several cases of Australian police officers violently attacking ‘unauthorized protesters’. On Sunday, Ben Kew – the English editor of the conservative Florida-based publication El American – declared in an article that Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison “must be made to pay for such flagrant human rights violations” that have taken place against protesters and other Australians through the use of strict CVD lockdown restrictions.

  • “Whether it’s building kingdoms by way of aggression, war and plunder or the modern enslavement of people by financial institutions, there’s a genuine case to be made that imperialism is caused by the power of evil. Are Empires demonic entities? The British Empire was invented by magician John Dee – a well-documented fact. He came up with the phrase and suggested it to Queen Elizabeth I. The story goes that he had conjured up a demon who inspired that imperial vision. Not bloody likely, of course, but the link between the demonic – the power of evil – and imperialism seems well-grounded.” ~ Revd Frank Gelli, an Anglican priest

  • British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has ordered an inquiry after a data breach “needlessly put lives at risk” by revealing the email addresses, and even pictures, of Afghan interpreters who worked with UK forces in the country. More than 250 people – many of whom are in hiding – hoping to relocate to the UK were copied in an email from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), according to a BBC report on Monday that said the email addresses, names and a number of attached profile pictures were visible to all recipients.

  • Speaking to Reuters on Tuesday, easyJet CEO Johan Lundgren dismissed claims made by Ryanair group Chief Executive Michael O’Leary earlier in September that the British company would need to merge with fellow budget airline Wizz Air to avoid a takeover as the aviation industry consolidates following the pandemic. “[It is] complete nonsense,” Lundgren stated, addressing O’Leary’s remarks. “I would urge anyone who runs an airline to focus on their own business rather than speculate about others [where] they have no idea about what’s going on.”

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered his condolences to the victims of a bloody shooting at one of the country’s top universities on Monday, and thanked police who took out the gunman and medics who treated the wounded. Six people have been confirmed dead after 18-year-old Timur Bekmansurov walked into Perm State University with a hunting rifle, and a further 28 were injured. The shooter was reportedly wounded as police responded to the incident and is now in intensive care.

  • A Ukrainian woman who fell into the sea while trying to take a selfie has died in a Spanish hospital after sustaining multiple serious injuries. She was taking a photo at Castell de Benidorm, a tourist attraction on the coast. According to reports from both Spain and Ukraine, Evgenia Pilipets, born in Dnipro, fell 30 meters off the castle while trying to get the perfect shot.

  • Prince Andrew has been served with a civil sexual assault lawsuit filed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, after the relevant legal papers were delivered to his US lawyer, reported The Guardian, citing court records. The summons and complaint papers were sent by the accuser’s legal team via email on 17 September, and by FedEx to the Duke of York’s Los Angeles-based attorney Andrew Brettler on Monday, according to his accuser’s legal team. The physical papers were left at the front desk of Brettler’s office, Lavely & Singer, according to the FedEx receipt cited in the court filing.

  • British Prime Minister Boris Johnson raised concerns over Amazon’s minimal tax bill in the UK with the company’s founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos on the fringes of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Downing Street has confirmed. “The prime minister raised the issue of taxation, and hoped progress could be in implementing the G7 agreement on tax,” a Downing Street spokesperson said in a readout of the meeting.

  • As Prince Andrew’s legal team has been trying to dismiss Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s civil suit, the royal could potentially request the unsealing of a settlement agreement his accuser signed with Jeffrey Epstein back in 2009. The Duke’s lawyers believe that this document effectively invalidates any of Virginia’s sex abuse claims against Epstein’s potential associates – including Prince Andrew, if his name appears in the unsealed pages. “If there is a chance that his requesting of the unsealing of documents can prove his innocence, which could help to have the case against him thrown out, then he must actively request these documents be opened,” Mace-Archer-Mills tells Sputnik. But there is another side to this story. The unsealing of the document could help Prince Andrew dismiss the civil case and potentially save him from settlement expenses but it would also forever link him to Epstein’s sneaky deeds and his alleged rink of sex-trafficking pals.

  • [Always “rules for thee but not for me”] The LA County Department of Public Health responded to criticism of the maskless Emmys by claiming the rules didn’t apply because it was a television production event – despite the fact that workers were still made to wear masks. There was uproar on Sunday as celebrities packed themselves into the Event Deck at LA Live without a mask amongst them as they kissed and hugged all night long.

  • A woman currently identified as “Jane Doe” has accused prominent American billionaire and investor Leon Black of raping her two decades ago inside the townhouse in Manhattan that belonged to disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Forbes reports citing court documents that were filed on Monday. Two weeks after the alleged rape, the woman told her friend about it but “decided she would not tell her story” after the friend warned that no one would believe her, Ganieva’s lawyers reportedly said.

  • Scientists from the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI), as part of an international team, have created a nanoprobe for pinpoint drug delivery to affected body tissues. This approach can be implemented through the use of nanoprobes, special structures capable of carrying a drug and special molecules to “target” the pathology centre. Each probe has to be compact, around tens of nanometres in size, with strictly defined physicochemical properties and as little toxicity as possible.

  • Two containers carrying nearly 3,000 kilograms [6,600 pounds] of Afghan heroin was discovered by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at Mundra Port in the western state of Gujarat, the government agency said. Two Indians were arrested after the heroin, marked as talc, was imported into the country from Bandar Abbas Port in Iran making it the country’s largest heroin bust. Afghanistan is the world’s largest supplier of the drug making up to 90% of global output. However since taking power the Taliban has pledged to crack down on the narcotics trade but failed to outline how.

  • Some 34 companies joined the Tent Foundation’s Coalition for Afghan Refugees and have pledged to train, hire, and “help integrate” refugees into the American economy, the Tent Foundation announced on Tuesday. The companies include Facebook, Uber, UPS, Pfizer, Chobani, Trip Advisor, Western Union, Hilton, Gap, Mastercard and Amazon – the latter of which will train and hire Afghan refugees to work in its controversial warehouses and transportation centers. Amazon – which has successfully fought to stop the unionization of its workers – has faced heavy backlash in recent years due to allegations of inhumane employee treatment.

  • A new volcanic fissure has emerged on the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma, producing more lava and prompting evacuations. While there have been no deaths or injuries, the ongoing eruption has caused widespread destruction. The fissure opened overnight following an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1, the Canary Islands’ volcanology institute, Involcan, said. The new fissure has produced more lava, forcing an additional 500 people to evacuate.
