  • Schools in Afghanistan reopened Wednesday for the new academic year, but the fundamentalist Taliban government prohibited teenage girls from joining secondary-level classes for a third year in a row. In a statement marking the new school year, the Taliban Ministry of Education asked teachers and students to follow “Islamic principles in their appearance” and avoid clothing that is against “Islam and Afghan customs.” However, it did not address the closure of secondary schools for girls. The Taliban have suspended girls’ education beyond the sixth grade and barred many Afghan women from public and private workplaces. Afghan female aid workers have also been prohibited from working for the United Nations and other aid organizations.

  • The US Department of Justice accused Apple of operating an illegal monopoly in the smartphone market in an expansive new antitrust lawsuit that seeks to upend many of the ways Apple locks down iPhones. The DOJ, along with 16 state and district attorneys general, accuses Apple of driving up prices for consumers and developers at the expense of making users more reliant on its phones. The parties allege that Apple “selectively” imposes contractual restrictions on developers and withholds critical ways of accessing the phone as a way to prevent competition from arising, according to the release. “Apple exercises its monopoly power to extract more money from consumers, developers, content creators, artists, publishers, small businesses, and merchants, among others,” the DOJ wrote.

  • WhatsApp is reportedly developing a feature to transcribe voice notes on Android devices. The feature utilises the speech recognition tool on smartphones to process voice notes locally. The transcribed text will be displayed in the same chat window, making it useful when audio playback is not possible. It could also enhance accessibility for hearing-impaired users. The platform is still developing the feature, hence it is unavailable to beta testers currently. An image shared by WABetaInfo suggests that the app will require a download of 150MB of new data to enable this feature.

  • Chemical ice nucleation cloud seeding operations are a core component for unstable air masses and massive hail. Late this week snow was also falling in Arizona at above freezing temperatures while it was raining in north eastern Canada. Does that make any sense from a meteorological perspective? The short answer is no, it doesn’t, unless geoengineering is considered. “Fruit chaos is coming”, that new headline from the Atlantic is referring to the crop crushing effect of record warm temperatures immediately followed by freak flash freezes. This devastating scenario is occurring all over the world. Is it just the result of nature? Or something else altogether? How soon till the food shelves empty out? ~ Global Alert News

  • Democrats in New York City and their allies in leftist corporate media are keeping a massive migrant shelter hidden from the public, located at a previously operational airfield in southern Brooklyn. This comes as the metro area has been flooded with upwards of 175,000 illegals in just a few short years. According to a recent AFP News report, large white tents full of Central and South Americans, Africans, Chinese, and Russians are packed like cattle on one of the runways at Floyd Bennett Field. It’s hard to say how many migrants are in the tent city, but some figures put it at nearly 2,000.

  • A shocking, under-reported story about the absolute state of New York’s bail reform laws has now gone viral, after left-wing journalist Ana Kasparian went on an epic rant against policies that her fellow Democrats absolutely voted for. It appears that it took New York releasing suspects in a double-murder / dismemberment case to start red-pilling the wine grannies on The View – a story which made its way to Kasparian. Earlier this month, three roomates were charged with hiding pieces of two dismembered bodies, which were hacked up with meat cleavers and then scattered around Long Island. “The barbaric lengths this defendant went to in disposing of these bodies should show the court the lengths this defendant would go to flee the prosecution of these charges.” -NY Post

  • Just a few years ago it would have been unthinkable for our government to ban access to life-saving drugs. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, opened our eyes to how far our government would go to line the pockets of big pharmaceutical companies. Among these critical medications that have been banned, or to which access has been limited, under the Biden administration is IVERMECTIN. Nobel Prize-winning medicine demonized as “horse medicine” by mainstream media and the FDA. Ivermectin was and is a key component in the McCullough Protocol introduced by freedom fighter doctor Peter McCullough. Ivermectin is an antiparasitic agent on the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines. Studies have demonstrated the antiviral properties of ivermectin on SARS-CoV-2 by inhibiting the entry of viral proteins into the nucleus of healthy human cells.

  • On Thursday Israel issued its most defiant response yet to Washington pressre that it abandon its plans for a ground invasion of Rafah, over fears of another mass civilian casualty humanitarian disaster, given the high number of refugees packed into the southern Gaza city. A top Israeli official was quoted in Bloomberg as saying the military is going to invade Rafah and defeat Hamas “even if the entire world turns on Israel, including the United States.” Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, issued the words in a podcast interview.

  • Officers in the Ukrainian Armed Forces are negligent in their duties and towards personnel, with discipline among servicemen low, Ukrainian Sergeant Dmytro Balanda, who was on the line of contact near Kupyansk at the end of 2023, told reporters. “No one wanted to fight, everyone resented it, there were no officers at the position. They gave orders: just go out, dig in, without saying where to dig in, in which direction, or where to wait for encounters, it was such a negligent attitude. Many of my comrades were outraged and said: ‘Why don’t we have officers… We didn’t have proper training.’ The average age of servicemen is over 45 years old,” said Balanda, who later surrendered in the Zaporozhye region. According to him, servicemen in his unit refused to participate in combat operations.

  • French President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to put around 2,000 troops in Odessa would only serve as a “human tripwire force” and would be “the equivalent of NATO, like a dog, urinating on Odessa, marking it as NATO’s territory,” Mark Sleboda, an international relations and security expert, told Sputnik’s The Critical Hour on Wednesday. He added that in this analogy, France is like “a poodle.” On Tuesday, French ground army chief of staff General Pierre Schill said in an op-ed that his forces are ready to respond to “the toughest engagements” and said the country could engage a division of 20,000 troops within 30 days. “He’s wrong. The French army is most certainly not ready for this,” Sleboda said, commenting on the general’s assertion. “If they were engaged in a high-intensity conflict such as the Kiev regime is engaged in, firing many less artillery shells than Russia, then France would have enough artillery shells for four days of conflict with Russia. Four days,” Sleboda explained.

  • The governments of European Union (EU) countries are secretly preparing for an imminent global famine. As of now, EU governments have started conducting war game simulations of major food crises that predict severe logistical and food supply problems as early as this year into next year. In addition to the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on grain supplies, weather events such as El Niño and La Niña and their impact on Latin American soybean production are part of the simulations. Also included in the simulation mix are anti-tractor farmers’ protests across Europe. ~ Hunter Fielding

  • Canada’s economic prospects are “beyond bleak” and may cause civil unrest in the next five years, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has said in a confidential report to the government in Ottawa. Titled “Whole-of-Government Five-Year Trends for Canada,” the report was obtained through a legal request by Thompson Rivers University legal scholar Matt Malone. A “heavily redacted” version was published by the National Post on Wednesday – though even that was quickly taken down from the document-sharing website Scribd. “Economic forecasts for the next five years and beyond are bleak,” with Canada’s current situation expected to “probably deteriorate further,” said the RCMP report, quoted by NP columnist Tristin Hopper.

  • The EU’s plan to seize revenues generated by frozen Russian assets and use them to provide military aid for Ukraine is likely to fail, Deutsche Welle reported on Thursday, citing Hungarian opposition to the proposal. The EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, on Wednesday proposed allocating 90% of the income from the funds to procure more arms for Kiev, which has increasingly complained of ammunition and weapons shortages on the front lines. The remaining 10% of income from the funds would be transferred to the EU budget and used to support Kiev’s defense industry. According to DW, however, the proposal could be blocked by Hungary. Citing an anonymous EU official, the outlet reported that Budapest will not support any plan that involves spending on weapons for Ukraine. The source added that, aside from Hungary, there is general agreement among most of the bloc’s members that using the funds to provide arms is the best way to support Kiev in its fight against Russia.

  • Pope Francis has not received an invitation to visit Russia and is not planning any such trip, the Vatican told RIA Novosti on Wednesday. The rebuttal follows claims in the French media this week that the pontiff could travel to Moscow to mediate in the Ukraine conflict. The Pope has repeatedly called for a diplomatic solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and has offered his services as a mediator on several occasions. He also recently called on Kiev to “have the courage of the white flag” and enter into negotiations with Moscow, drawing a barrage of criticism from the West. On Tuesday, French outlet Intelligence Online – which describes itself as an independent media source focused on “exclusive” reporting – claimed that the Pope is planning to visit Moscow in June, and that the Vatican is already holding talks with Russian diplomats on the issue.

  • The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is set to begin investigating the spectacular light shows of solar system giants Uranus and Saturn. Two separate teams of astronomers at the University of Leicester will use the $10-billion space telescope to study auroras over the gas giant Saturn and the frigid ice giant Uranus. The aim will be to explain in greater detail the processes that create these polar light shows over different planets. “The JWST is already changing how we perceive the universe, from the solar system, our very own cosmic backyard, to the first galaxies formed at the beginning of time,” Henrik Melin from the University of Leicester School of Physics and Astronomy who will lead the Uranus investigation, said in a statement. “I am thrilled to have been awarded time on this remarkable observatory, and this data will fundamentally shape our understanding of both Saturn and Uranus.”

Archaeo Histories

The word pizza was first documented in 997 AD, in Gaeta and successively in different parts of Central and Southern Italy. Precursor of pizza was probably focaccia, a flat bread known to Romans as panis focacius, to which toppings were then added. Modern pizza developed in Naples, when tomato was added to focaccia in late 18th Century AD.
