News Burst 22 June 2021 – Featured News

  • Wiltshire Police officers dispersed an unauthorised gathering of druids and sun-worshippers at Stonehenge on the morning of 21 June, though it is still unknown if anybody was detained, the Daily Mail writes.

  • New Zealand has been accused of undermining female athletics after tapping trans weightlifter Laurel Hubbard for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo, with some even describing the decision as outright cheating. The New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) CEO Kereyn Smith said that Hubbard met the requirements to compete in the international games, and stressed that New Zealand’s team has a “strong culture of… inclusion and respect for all.” One commentator claimed data suggests that “mediocre” male athletes would be champions if they were allowed to compete in female events, suggesting that Hubbard’s selection was deeply unfair and undermines the integrity of women’s sports.

  • Elvira Nabiullina, chair of the Russia’s Central Bank, argued that investments in any kind of currency were always risky. “Losing in the foreign exchange market is much easier than it is to make money,” she said. “The most dangerous of all strategies, of course, is speculative crypto assets.”

  • The publishing world’s in danger of becoming a no-go area for freedom of expression. The delayed publication of a history text, amended after it was deemed “too white,” is proof of that. There’s a veritable army of freelance censors and sensitivity entrepreneurs enlisted in the policing of culture. The British Richard Cohen’s book, titled ‘The History Makers’, was due out earlier this month. Promoted as an “epic exploration of who writes the past”, it had already been a target of cultural policing by Random House. The American publisher had previously demanded that Cohen rewrite part of his 800-page tome on the grounds that he failed to include a sufficiently large quota of black historians and academics. Yet, despite the rewrite, it decided to cancel his contract.

  • A body found in the woods in Belgium on Saturday belonged to a rogue soldier who fled his unit a month ago with an arsenal of weapons and threatened to assassinate the country’s top virologist, the Belgian Defense Ministry said. The 46-year-old soldier Jurgen Conings, with combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, left notes containing death threats against Belgium’s top officials before he went missing. Virologist Marc Van Ranst, who had a hand in the Covid-19 restrictions in Belgium, was on that hit list and ended up being placed in a safe house by the authorities. In one of his messages, Conings explained that he “could no longer live in a society where politicians and virologists have taken everything away from us” and warned that he wasn’t planning to surrender peacefully.

  • The British Law Society has faced a storm of online mockery and criticism after it showcased its guide for the use of pronouns in the workplace. While some found the initiative ridiculous, others blasted it for not being inclusive enough. The advisory also suggests a way of introducing people to one another, saying things like “This is Jen, they work in finance. This is Fred, he works in marketing.”

  • Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has been filmed getting heckled in a TikTok clip that spread like wildfire across social media before being removed by the app for allegedly violating its policy on bullying. The person behind the camera asked, “Hey Jeff, do you feel bad when your Amazon workers die in the warehouse?” “Bullying of billionaires is actually a good thing,” Bradley Blankenship, journalist and political commentator, said.

  • Fearsome unmanned aircraft capable of carrying laser-guided rockets, mortar rounds, and anti-tank missiles could soon be patrolling close to Russia’s borders under the terms of a deal between Ukraine and Turkey, Kiev has revealed. In an interview with the Ankara-based Anadolu news agency, published on Monday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said the technology would help it in the event of conflict with Moscow, and it had been bought “for protection.”

  • Soon-to-be-married couples in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia’s fifth-largest city, will have to provide a negative CVD test or proof of vaccination for themselves and all of their guests if they wish to have a wedding ceremony. That’s according to new rules published by the administration of the region, home to over three million people, which restrict all indoor weddings to a maximum of 20 Covid-free or fully vaccinated people. The new rules, recently published online, require that all participants must provide original documents of either a vaccination certificate, a negative PCR test, or a positive antibody test. All guests must also wear a mask.

  • A Russian scientist believes that the only way we can finally discover extraterrestrial life is for experts and researchers from different branches to work together. Alexander Panov, a leading researcher at Moscow State University’s Research Institute of Nuclear Physics, has spent many years working on the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) at the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Radio Astronomy. In a recent interview, he laments the lack of interaction between researchers involved in both the searches for biological and for intelligent life out in the universe, and called for greater cooperation and pooling of resources between these two distinct fields, which have essentially the same goal: find aliens. “Of course we are not alone,” Panov boldly states. “The question is not whether they exist, but where they exist.

News Burst 22 June 2021 - Russia UFO

The existence of UFOs is “undeniable” …

… and they are the work of Vladimir Putin or “something extraterrestrial,” a Republican congressman claims. The lawmaker’s comments come as intelligence experts prepare to publish the findings of the Pentagon’s highly anticipated report into unidentified aerial phenomena this week. GOP Rep. Tim Burchett claims Navy pilots have seen an orb that has either been sent by “somebody on this planet” or is of alien origin. He told Newsmax: “I mean, honestly, Putin as an egomaniac, if they had a UFO he would have landed one on the steps of the White House just to show his superiority.” But, the congressman speculated that there could be “something” from another universe jamming the US’ radar.
