  • Facebook has been criticized after opting to label reports by US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh as “false.” Hersh has made claims about American involvement in the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines and the alleged theft of US aid by Kiev, although the social media giant said “fact-checking” by outlets connected with Norway and Ukraine justified its use of the label. Hersh’s article on the pipeline sabotage, which he published on the platform Substack, is now flagged as “false information” by Facebook, journalist Michael Shellenberger noted on Thursday. Facebook uses third parties, which it considers independent fact-checkers, to make decisions on whether to warn users about the content of links posted on the platform. While Hersh’s claims are disputed, Facebook “has decided to take a side” and is “censoring” the veteran journalist, Shellenberger argued. “Whether Hersh is wrong or right, his reporting should be debated publicly, not censored,” insisted Shellenberger, who recently helped expose social media censorship as part of the Twitter Files. “Facebook’s actions are antithetical to America’s tradition of free and open debate and its rejection of secretive, authoritarian censorship,” he added.

  • In an update to its multi-platform social network engagement page, Microsoft announced that as of April 25, its Smart Campaigns advertising platform will no longer support Twitter and that advertising clients won’t be able to access their Twitter accounts through Microsoft’s social management tool. Meanwhile, other social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn will continue to be available, the company added. Musk replied to the news in a short tweet on Wednesday by stating: “They [Microsoft] trained illegally using Twitter data. Lawsuit time.” The billionaire was apparently referring to Microsoft’s use of the Twitter API (application programming interface) to train AI programs, presumably including the Microsoft-controlled OpenAI ChatGPT.

  • The US Justice Department has asked Congress for more authority to funnel seized Russian assets to Ukraine. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco testified before Congress on Wednesday, claiming Washington is “leaving a lot of money on the table” from these forfeitures. The DOJ currently only has the authority to transfer funds from assets seized in cases involving sanctions evasion. Monaco wants Congress to broaden the government’s forfeiture authority to include those who violate trade laws known as export controls. These laws determine the transfer of certain types of items and technology, such as satellite sensors and drones, to people in foreign countries or to foreign nationals in the US. According to the deputy attorney general, overall, more than $500 million in Russian assets has been targeted and over 30 individuals charged so far.

  • Google plans to integrate generative artificial intelligence technology in its advertising business, the British newspaper reported on Thursday, citing a company presentation. Google reportedly already uses AI to make prompts inciting users to purchase certain products. The introduction of the new AI tool is planned for the coming months and will enable the creation of new-level advertising campaigns, as it is expected to generate ads based on set parameters, visual and text content for a particular campaign, according to the report. The tool will be incorporated into Performance Max, a platform developed by Google for advertisers to create ad campaigns. At the same time, the company has concerns regarding the possible spread of misinformation about advertised products, as generative AI tools often make mistakes, known as “hallucinations,” providing output that may sound plausible but is factually incorrect.

  • The Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok announced on Wednesday that it will crack down on “misinformation” about climate change and elevate “authoritative information” from independent fact-checkers. The changes will take effect on April 21, to mark Earth Day. The company said it was rolling out “several initiatives that will help reduce harmful climate change misinformation while elevating authoritative information year-round.” Starting Friday, content on the platform will be inspected for accuracy by TikTok’s “safety partners,” and labeled misinformation if it “undermines well-established scientific consensus,” such as “denying the existence of climate change or the factors that contribute to it,” the company said.

  • The Florida State Senate passed a bill providing for the death penalty for anyone convicted with overwhelming jury support of sexually abusing children under 12, local media reported. The initiative was approved by the State Senate with 34 votes in favor and 5 against. The bill was adopted in the Florida House of Representatives last week, by 95 votes to 14. Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, is expected to sign the bill.

  • A congressional hearing aimed to gather information on recent UFO sightings and address the potential national security implications of these phenomena. Members of Congress heard testimonies from experts in the field, including representatives from the AARO and independent researchers, who shared their insights on the matter. The hearing highlighted the growing importance of transparency in this area and demonstrated the government’s commitment to shedding light on these mysterious occurrences. In an unprecedented move, the United States government released three new UFO videos captured by drone footage. These videos, which originate from different parts of the world, depict round, metallic objects moving at remarkable speeds. The AARO, a division within the Department of Defense, has been tasked with investigating these sightings and determining whether they pose a threat to national security.

  • NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg estimates that the price of military assistance to Ukraine has topped 150 billion euros ($165 billion) since February 2022, the alliance said on Thursday. NATO countries have trained tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and are delivering “more jets, tanks, and armoured vehicles” to Ukraine as it prepares for a counteroffensive, Stoltenberg, who arrived in Kiev on Thursday for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said. Stoltenberg reiterated that Ukraine’s place was in NATO but gave no timeline for its accession. He said this would be made possible “over time” and assured Zelenskyy that the alliance was with Ukraine for the long haul to help it transition to NATO standards and ensure its full interoperability with allies.

  • The Pentagon is investigating a rising number of cases involving unidentified aircraft, the head of the agency’s effort told senators on Wednesday, and is now tracking some 650 incidents. But Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office, also looked to tamp down some of the out-of-this-world speculation about what’s behind the sightings, telling senators that his shop has found no evidence of alien activity. Kirkpatrick said that approximately half of the reports of “unidentified aerial phenomena” have been prioritized for further review and to examine if enough data is available to resolve the cases. But Kirkpatrick cautioned that many cases may remain unresolved due to a lack of hard data. He estimated 20 to 30 cases are halfway through his office’s analytical process with “a handful” of cases that have been peer-reviewed and closed. “I will not close a case that I cannot defend the conclusions of,” Kirkpatrick said.

News Burst 21 April 2023 - Hybrid Solar Eclipse

Hybrid Solar Eclipse

This once-in-a-decade Hybrid Solar Eclipse is a spectacular natural phenomenon that occurs when the moon’s shadow falls on the Earth’s surface, partially or fully blocking the sun’s rays. This rare occurrence happens when the moon is at a particular distance from the Earth, leading to a perfect alignment of the sun, moon, and our planet. During the April 20 solar eclipse, the width of the moon’s shadow over the Earth’s surface was just 49 km. It began as an annulus in the Indian Ocean, with total eclipse visible on the Cape Peninsula and Barrow Island in Western Australia, East Timor, Damar Island, and Papua Province in Indonesia. The event concluded as a circular eclipse in the Pacific Ocean.

World Economic Forum

The world will be controlled by an authoritarian one-world government and humanity, according to Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum, will be enslaved in a totalitarian system featuring mass surveillance, mandatory vaccinations and desperate servitude. In a disturbing development, the globalist elite are claiming that water is not a human right and the world’s water supplies must be privatized and controlled by the elites. The World Economic Forum and the U.N. have ordered world governments to prepare to ration people’s water supply as part of their ‘Great Reset’ agenda for humanity. ~ The People’s Voice TV
