  • Italian investigators are dealing with a case of sexual abuse in which a man posed as a gynecologist to get a close look at the genitals of dozens of women. The suspect arranged examinations online. The man contacted the women, telling them he was aware of the results of their intimate medical tests. Having obtained the victims’ personal data from websites, the 40-year-old suspect told the women they had been diagnosed with severe vaginal infections, requiring further check-ups. Over 400 women across Italy have been targeted. While some deceived women underwent online examinations by the fake doctor, others got suspicious and filed complaints with local police.

  • Russia’s notorious criminal collective, the “thieves in law,” have reportedly declared that they won’t expel members who have been raped or tortured by prison guards, after claims of horrific abuse inside correctional facilities. In a letter distributed on Wednesday, a group calling itself the “Mass of Thieves” announced that those who had suffered such abuse would not be shunned for having undergone the ordeal, as has previously been the case under strict laws governing the shady underworld. The authors of the note called on other “thieves” to accept the victims back into their company, writing, “mocking and humiliating them is inhuman, because a person can only have sympathy for them.”

  • Anti-vaxxers have clashed with police during a demonstration against anti-Covid measures in central London. A ‘freedom rally’ organized by several self-described ‘resistance groups’ started at midday on Saturday at Parliament Square. Its participants are protesting the vaccine mandate for NHS staff, the recent introduction of Covid-passports, and other pandemic-related measures.

  • [Always “rules for thee but not for me”] British Cabinet Secretary Simon Case will no longer investigate a series of alleged lockdown-breaching Christmas parties at Downing Street, after it emerged that a festive gathering was held in his office over the same period. Case had been investigating a number of alleged festive gatherings held last winter at Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Downing Street office, as well as a party at the Department of Education. These events, at least one of which was attended by Johnson himself, reportedly took place in breach of the government’s own coronavirus restrictions.

  • A team of scientists at the University of Vermont, Tufts University, and Harvard University have created ‘living robots’ (called Xenobots) that can reproduce themselves in an entirely new process of biological propagation. They have recently published the results of their research in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. They first successfully created Xenobots in 2020 from embryonic cells of the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis). But with the aid of artificial intelligence the scientists have recently discovered that these tiny computer-designed organisms can travel, gather cells (loose stem cells) and assemble their own Xenobots inside themselves. After a gestation period of a few days within their ‘mouths,’ the new Xenobots look and behave just like their ‘parent’ – and can also replicate themselves, ad infinitum.

  • One of the most affluent men in Britain has been accused of excessive greed after he allegedly demanded annual rent of £600,000 for allowing a new train line to cross his land. Ralph Percy, 12th Duke of Northumberland, owns land which will be crossed by the new Northumberland Line. Under ancient ‘wayleave’ rules, landowners can allow access to their land for remuneration, including through annual rent as one of the options. Percy is reportedly worth £315 million and owns, among other assets, Alnwick Castle, featured in the ‘Harry Potter’ movies.

  • Abortion clinics in Illinois will no longer have to notify parents of their underage clients 48 hours before the procedure, according to a new law signed by the state’s governor J.B. Pritzker, FOX 32 reported on Saturday. The governor’s action was predictably criticized by Republican lawmakers, who claimed the law would harm relations between parents and children.

  • Prince Andrew’s legal team has failed to have newspaper cuttings describing his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, as a “money-hungry sex kitten” taken into account as part of an effort to throw out her abuse complaint against the royal, reported The Daily Telegraph.
District Judge Lewis Kaplan rejected the request to consider the press reports, as well as a 139-page manuscript, The Billionaire’s Playboy Club, written by Giuffre.

  • At least 44 suspects, including 18 Colombian nationals and at least three US citizens, were detained on suspicion of involvement in the brutal 7 July assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse. The motives for the murder have yet to be uncovered. Five Colombian nationals being held in a Haitian prison on suspicion of involvement in the murder of the country’s president have come forward to claim they are innocent, and to allege they were “framed” by the real killers. “We were useful idiots for someone else. But we did not commit this crime,” one of the men told CNN, with the news network allowed to interview the prisoners after months of negotiations with the authorities.

  • Dr. Garry Nolan, a professor of pathology at Stanford University who has been working with people studying materials originating from alleged UAPs (the acronym stands for Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon, explained that some of the objects he looked at appear as nondescript lumps of metal, though almost none of the objects he examined “are uniform.” One of the materials from the so called Ubatuba UAP event in Brazil, he said, has “extraordinarily altered isotope ratios of magnesium.” The problem, Nolan explained, is that there is “no good reason humans have for altering the isotope ratios of a simple metal like magnesium,” as while such a feat is doable, there is simply no reason for performing it.

  • St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Logan Square in Chicago has become very liberal of late; a drag queen led the sermon last Sunday. Seminarian Aaron Musser was dressed as a woman as he taught children about joy and freedom of expression.

  • On Saturday, India test-fired its new strategic and new generation nuclear missile – coined Agni Prime – from its eastern coast. As per a statement released by the Indian government, the missile is capable of hitting targets up to 2,000 km away. The missile is tipped to tilt the balance of power in India’s favour in the highly contested Indo-Pacific region.

  • China’s oldest person, Alimihan Seyiti, passed away at the age of 135 in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Kashgar Prefecture authorities said on Saturday. Seyiti was born on 25 June 1886 and resided in the village of Kumusherik, Shule County in the Kashgar Prefecture. In 2013, she was named the oldest person in the country by the China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics. According to her grandson, Seyiti led a simple lifestyle, loved to sing and sunbathe in her yard, was always happy and laughed a lot.

  • A 4.9-magnitude quake struck outside Italy’s Milan on Saturday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.

Pink-Haired Dogs

Previously, dogs with blue fur were seen in the town of Dzerzhinsk in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region.
Pink-haired dogs were spotted in Dolgoprudny, a northern suburb of Moscow, earlier this week. According to REN TV, some of the residents suggested that a local factory that produces paints may be responsible for the dogs’ unusual appearance. The factory, however, has denied any wrongdoing and said it did not produce such paint.
