  • More than 2 tonnes of natural uranium reported missing by the UN’s nuclear watchdog in war-torn Libya have been found, a general in the country’s east has said. Gen Khaled al-Mahjoub, the commander of eastern warlord Khalifa Haftar’s communications division, said the containers of uranium had been recovered barely 5km (3 miles) from where they had been stored in southern Libya, and after the International Atomic Energy Agency reported their disappearance earlier on Thursday. The director general of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, told the organisation’s member states that inspectors on Tuesday found that 10 drums containing approximately 2.5 tonnes of uranium ore concentrate “were not present as previously declared”.

  • DNA tests have confirmed a bull shark was involved in the death of 16-year-old Stella Berry in Perth’s Swan River last month, authorities say, as the WA government moves to expand its shark tagging program. 10 bull shark sightings have been reported since the February 4 attack. Tagging of adult bull sharks in the Swan and Canning River estuaries will begin over the next few days. WA Fisheries Minister Don Punch said bull sharks could move comfortably between fresh and saltwater environments.

  • In a recent article, Dr. Peter McCullough said this: Far and away the most common question I get from those who took one of the COVID-19 vaccines is: “how do I get this out of my body.” The mRNA and adenoviral DNA products were rolled out with no idea on how or when the body would ever breakdown the genetic code. The synthetic mRNA carried on lipid nanoparticles appears to be resistant to breakdown by human ribonucleases by design so the product would be long-lasting and produce the protein product of interest for a considerable time period. This would be an advantage for a normal human protein being replaced in a rare genetic deficiency state (e.g. alpha galactosidase in Fabry’s disease). However, it is a big problem when the protein is the pathogenic SARS-CoV-2 Spike. The adenoviral DNA (Janssen) should broken down by deoxyribonuclease, however this has not be exhaustively studied. This leaves dissolution of Spike protein as a therapeutic goal for the vaccine injured. With the respiratory infection, Spike is processed and activated by cellular proteases including transmembrane serine protein 2 (TMPRSS2), cathepsin, and furin. With vaccination, these systems may be avoided by systemic administration and production of Spike protein within cells. As a result, the pathogenesis of vaccine injury syndromes is believed to be driven by accumulation of Spike protein in cells, tissues, and organs.

  • Finland has rejected a Ukrainian request for several passenger trains that used to run between Helsinki and St. Petersburg as the rolling stock is in-part owned by Russia. The request for four Allegro high-speed trains was made by the CEO of Ukrainian railway company Ukrzaliznytsia Alexandr Kamyshin to Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin during her visit to Kiev last week. According to local media reports, Kamyshin approached Marin at a Kiev railway station as the Finnish delegation was leaving the capital, handing over “a piece of paper that resembled a card rather than an official letter,” which was addressed to VR Group, Finland’s government-owned railway company. Vice President of Ukrzaliznytsia Alexandr Shevchenko told news agency STT that Ukraine could use the trains for transporting people to and from the frontlines of the conflict with Russia as the rolling stock complies with Ukraine’s track width.

  • Israeli President Isaac Herzog has warned that the Jewish state stands on the brink of civil war over proposed judicial reforms by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. Amid nationwide protests, Herzog presented a set of alternate reforms, which were rejected by Netanyahu. “Those who think that a real civil war, with human lives, is a border we won’t cross, have no idea,” Herzog said in a video address on Wednesday. “The abyss is within touching distance,” he continued, adding that “at any price, and by any means, I won’t let it happen.” Israel has been rocked by continuous protests since Netanyahu announced his proposed reforms in January. These legal changes would allow Israel’s parliament to override Supreme Court rulings with a simple majority vote, would grant the government more power in appointing judges, and would limit the ability of the court to review legislation it deems “unreasonable.”

  • The Australian political establishment is divided as to where the federal government should dispose of nuclear waste associated with the country’s expanded submarine deal with its AUKUS allies. An accord was struck by the leadership of the countries which make up the trilateral AUKUS alliance – Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom – when they met in San Diego, California earlier this week, which rubber-stamped the sale of nuclear-powered submarines by Washington to Canberra. In addition, Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that his country would construct its own fleet of nuclear submarines, which will be delivered in the early 2040s. The terms of the agreement stipulate that the Australian government will be responsible for the disposal of nuclear waste from the vessels – but this appears to have opened a new political front for the country’s various state leaders.

  • Ukrainian refugees receiving financial assistance in Switzerland might be forced to sell their cars in order to keep getting their assistance payments, news outlet 20 Minuten has reported, citing social services. The new Swiss regulations oblige any person that is living off benefits a year after arriving in the country to pass a revaluation of their assets, the outlet said on Tuesday. According to the Swiss Conference for Social Assistance (SKOS), which issues guidelines for social welfare in the Alpine country, cars are to be disposed-of “if their value exceeds the asset allowance for the relevant household size.” In the central canton of Lucerne, the authorities have set a deadline of one month for those getting social assistance to sort out issues with their personal vehicles.

  • A train derailed in northern Arizona late on Wednesday, according to local authorities. It’s the latest in a series of railway accidents in the US recently. The incident occurred at the Topock Bridge near Interstate 40, close to the borders of California and Nevada, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Thursday. The cause of the accident is still being investigated, and there were no casualties reported. Anita Mortenson, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, originally said the cargo on board the train may be hazardous, but added that it had not spilled. BNSF Railway spokesperson Lena Kent told CNN on Thursday, however, that it was “a train carrying corn syrup” rather than hazardous materials. She also clarified that an estimated eight cars went off the tracks and were currently blocking the main railway. An investigation is ongoing.

  • NASA has shared new details about its ISS deorbit plan. The International Space Station is currently orbiting our planet, with ongoing scientific missions to continue until the end of the 2020s. Then, in 2030, NASA will use a “space tug” to help bring the ISS down to Earth, where it will crash into the Pacific Ocean, resting at the bottom of the sea. It’s an plan that NASA has had in the works for several months. However, the space agency originally planned to use Russian spacecraft to help navigate the station down to Earth. Currently, NASA is taking a different approach, saying it will rely on a “space tug” as a critical part of its ISS deorbit plan.

Venus Is Still Alive

Maat Mons is displayed in this computer generated three-dimensional perspective of the surface of Venus. The viewpoint is located 393 miles (634 kilometers) north of Maat Mons at an elevation of 2 miles (3 km) above the terrain. Lava flows extend for hundreds of kilometers across the fractured plains shown in the foreground, to the base of Maat Mons. (Image credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech)

Scientists studying data sent home by NASA’s Magellan spacecraft in the early 1990s say they have spotted volcanic activity on Venus. The discovery, announced in a paper published Wednesday (March 15), is based on changes of a vent near one of the planet’s largest volcanoes, Maat Mons. “Where we made the discovery is the most likely place that there should have been new volcanism,” Robert Herrick, a researcher at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute, said Wednesday (March 15) at the 54th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (LPSC) being held in Texas and virtually.

Scott and his crew were then reported missing. Since then, it has been a restricted area, with only a few governments around the world allowed to conduct limited research.
