  • “If you’re looking for the fury and vibration of a rocket, you’ve come to the wrong place,” says Jane Poynter, cofounder of Space Perspective. “Our Spaceship Neptune offers a gentle ride into space that lets clients absorb the astronaut experience.” The football-field-sized space balloon carrying the bulbous cabin into the sky at 12 mph (picture the pace of a leisurely bike ride) is in market contrast to the thunderous Flash Gordon blastoffs of Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin. Spaceship Neptune’s swanky, pressurized lounge is a panopticon of windows and includes a bar and bathroom. After a successful test of its prototype in June, Space Perspective began selling tickets for flights beginning in 2024, at a cost of $125,000 per seat.

  • Prince Andrew, the British royal accused of sexual abuse in a lawsuit by one of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged victims, was not represented at a pretrial hearing in New York, with his lawyers saying he was improperly served papers. The civil case began in New York on Monday with a pretrial hearing. However, court documents filed by Andrew’s legal team state that the disgraced prince is contesting the manner in which he was served the court summons, which was handed to police security outside the Royal Lodge in Windsor, England, instead of directly to Andrew by an agent of the crown. Andrew was not going to be represented at the pretrial hearing, the Times reported, as doing so would have amounted to recognizing the summons. US District Judge Lewis Kaplan urged Prince Andrew’s legal team to “cut out all the technicalities and get to the substance.”

  • Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has kicked off a storm after making a political statement with her outfit at the Met Gala – drawing both praise and criticism over “hypocrisy” on social media for a dress bearing the slogan ‘Tax the Rich’. The Democratic congresswoman from New York attended the star-studded event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday. Tickets for the annual charity event reportedly went for at least $35,000 a head – which added to the debate over her choice of wardrobe.

  • Whale hunting, reindeers crossing rivers, dogs chasing a brown bear for an ancient hunter, dancing men and women with huge ‘fly agaric’ mushrooms on their heads – these stunning, dynamic and expressive petroglyphs are one of the least studied on Earth. They are also the only rock art in Russia discovered above the Arctic Circle. The spectacular art gallery – scientists found 350 stone planes, each with dozens of drawings – was ‘opened’ at least two thousand years ago, when ancient artists embossed petroglyphs on rocks of what is now Chukotka, Russia’s easternmost corner. The Pegtymel petroglyphs were found by Soviet geologists in 1967, high above the right bank of the Pegtymel River, a short distance from the East Siberian Sea.

  • Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates warned in a TED talk in 2015 that “if anything kills over 10 million people in the next few decades, it’s most likely to be a highly infectious virus rather than a war… Not missiles, but microbes.” Not enough is being done to prepare for a future pandemic, warned a new report from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

  • An 11-day-old baby boy who was born after 34 weeks’ gestation died from a congenital disorder in the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) Rural Clinic in Huajuapan de León – Mexico, last Friday. The baby’s father and staff from a funeral home went to the Mixtec region hospital the next day to collect the infant’s body but left the facility with a coffin containing a human leg. According to sources cited by the newspaper El Universal, the parents didn’t become aware of the mix-up until they arrived at Tacache de Mina, their hometown.

  • As more U.S. states move towards legalization, “Mexican marijuana has largely been supplanted by domestic-produced marijuana,” according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) 2020 National Drug Threat Assessment. The report shows marijuana seizures along the southwest U.S.-Mexico border declined by more than 81% between 2013 and 2020, suggesting Mexican crime groups have significantly scaled down their marijuana trafficking operations.

  • Women in Afghanistan can continue to study in universities, including at post-graduate levels, but classrooms will be gender-segregated and Islamic dress is compulsory, the Taliban government’s new higher education minister said Sunday. Gender segregation will also be enforced, he said. “We will not allow boys and girls to study together,” he said. “We will not allow co-education.”

  • A loud explosion-like noise was heard in many parts of Helsinki late on Saturday evening, but the source of the detonation remained a mystery on Monday. The boom sparked discussions on social media, with residents of the neighborhoods of Oulunkylä, Kumpula, Käpylä, Arabia, Kulosaari, Metsälä, Meilahti and Kulosaari claiming to have heard the noise around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday. Speculation as to the source of the sound has also been wide. Some have suggested that it could be a meteor crashing into the atmosphere, an earthquake, or even a supersonic boom caused by an Air Force fighter jet. However, these possibilities have been practically excluded.

  • The Māori party has launched a petition to change New Zealand’s official name to Aotearoa, the te reo Māori, indigenous language name for the country. “It’s well past time that Te Reo Māori was restored to its rightful place as the first and official language of this country,” Te Pāti Māori leaders, Rawiri Waititi and Debbie Ngarewa-Packer said in a statement launching the petition. “We are a Polynesian country – we are Aotearoa.” “Aotearoa is a name that will unify our country rather than divide it,” Waititi said. “Others are trying to use it is a divisive tool, but this is an inclusive tool, where our ancestors consented to us all living on this whenua [land] together.” “New Zealand is a Dutch name. Even the Dutch have changed their name – from Holland to the Netherlands, for Christ’s sakes!”

  • Former Israeli Communications Ministry deputy general Haim Geron – a key witness in the corruption trial of Benjamin Netanyahu – and his wife have died after the plane he was flying crashed in Greece. Greek media claim a technical fault is the most likely cause for the single-engine aircraft’s disaster near the island of Samos, which didn’t claim any other victims. Geron gave evidence in the former PM’s trial involving a multi-million dollar communications contract Netanyahu allegedly illicitly facilitated in exchange for favorable media coverage.

  • Chinese property giant Evergrande warns in a statement today that there has been “no material progress” so far in selling part of its stakes and that it could default on its enormous debts. Meanwhile, protests at the company’s offices are increasing.

  • General Mark Milley secretly held Pentagon meetings to undermine Trump because he believed the former U.S. president would use nuclear weapons in his final days in office; told staff to disobey all but his orders. Milley told China in a secret phone call that he would give advance warning if the U.S. was ever going to attack; told staff to disobey all but his orders.

  • China plans a new crackdown on the already heavily censored local “Internet” to stop “historical nihilism” and to further promote “core socialist values,” state news agency Xinhua reported today. Cyberspace should be used to promote education about the ruling Communist Party and its achievements, according to guidelines published by the State Council. A “clear-cut stand” should be taken against “historical nihilism”, defined as any attempt to use the past to question the party’s leading role or the “inevitability” of Chinese socialism.

  • Many people tried to stab me in the back the moment I decided to speak the truth! It is impossible to even visualize the dark secrets they are hiding from us. When you are in the right direction you must be careful and tough at the same time because the sharks only wait for one drop of blood and they will come right at you, ruthlessly motivated to rip you apart. Just because you discovered the TRUTH. My prayer is that our children won’t be taught and guided by the polluted propaganda the big tech mafia is trying to sell us, we must show them the right path! We must fight and not back down! ~ Keanu Reeves

  • A federal judge on Tuesday granted an emergency injunction blocking the state of New York from enforcing a new CCP virus vaccine mandate for healthcare workers. Seventeen medical health professionals had asked the court to enjoin enforcement of New York’s mandate that then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Aug. 16. The mandate required staff at hospitals and long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, adult care facilities, and other congregate care settings, be vaccinated for COVID-19 to continue to be employed. The plaintiffs, including doctors, nurses, a medical technician, and a physician’s liaison, were facing termination, loss of hospital admitting privileges, and the destruction of their careers unless they consent to be vaccinated with vaccines in contradiction of their religious beliefs, the lawsuit argued. Their religious beliefs compelled the plaintiffs “to refuse vaccination with the available COVID-19 vaccines, all of which employ aborted fetus cell lines in their testing, development, or production,” according to court documents. The health care employees argued that the vaccine mandate would nullify protections for sincere religious beliefs under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, even though the prior state health order in effect just days earlier had afforded the same protections.

Janai Purnima

Every year in Nepal, Janai Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Shrawan. The ‘Taghadharis’, bearer of the holy thread called Janai, take a bath in the nearest river or pond early in the morning and replace the janai with a fresh one given by their priest. Devotees also tie a sacred thread around their wrist on this day, which they believe purifies the soul and protects one from evil. Each year thousands of pilgrims head to the abode of the gods — Gosainkunda, the holy lake. The pandemic didn’t deter the devotees. Gosainkunda sits at 4,380metres above sea level.

Dream

You can't reach anything if you don't dream about it. Everything in existence, was before conceived like a dream, everything achieved, was before thought. One thing is sure, if you can't imagine... you can't achieve.
