  • A Kuwaiti media outlet has unveiled a virtual news presenter generated using artificial intelligence, with plans for it to read online bulletins. “Fedha” appeared on the Twitter account of the Kuwait News website as an image of a woman, her light-coloured hair uncovered, wearing a black jacket and white T-shirt. “I’m Fedha, the first presenter in Kuwait who works with artificial intelligence at Kuwait News. What kind of news do you prefer? Let’s hear your opinions,” she said in classical Arabic.

  • A book titled “Biocentrism: How Life and Consciousness Are the Keys to Understanding the Nature of the Universe“ has stirred up the Internet, because it contained a notion that life does not end when the body dies, and it can last forever. The author of this publication, scientist Dr. Robert Lanza who was voted the 3rd most important scientist alive by the NY Times, has no doubts that this is possible.Beyond time and space. Lanza is an expert in regenerative medicine and scientific director of Advanced Cell Technology Company. Not so long ago, the scientist became involved with physics, quantum mechanics and astrophysics. This explosive mixture has given birth to the new theory of biocentrism, which the professor has been preaching ever since. Biocentrism teaches that life and consciousness are fundamental to the universe. It is consciousness that creates the material universe, not the other way around. Lanza points to the structure of the universe itself, and that the laws, forces, and constants of the universe appear to be fine-tuned for life, implying intelligence existed prior to matter.

  • The Shiveluch volcano in the Russian Far East erupted on Tuesday morning local time, throwing a plume of ash up to 20km into the atmosphere. The Kamchatka authorities are monitoring the lava flow, while regional residents were told to stay inside and wear masks. The eruption began around 1am and reached its maximum five hours later, according to local volcanologists. Plumes of hot ash rose into the sky, followed by rockfalls and lava flow from the mountain, which rises 2,500 meters above the Pacific Ocean. Instruments and satellite surveillance on Tuesday morning confirmed the ash had reached up to 20km into the atmosphere. The event was registered by monitoring stations more than 100km away.

  • The US Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation into the publication of classified documents related to the Ukraine conflict, as the White House on Monday lectured journalists not to report on their content. Meanwhile, an internal investigation has been launched to “review and assess the validity” of the documents, which “appear to contain sensitive and highly classified material.” Photographs of scanned briefing slides were first posted on a messaging platform called Discord in January, but went unnoticed until last week. Since then, more documents have appeared on Twitter and Telegram as well, with the latest batch emerging on Friday.

  • Two employees in Google’s Responsible Innovation department tried and failed to block the release of its AI chatbot Bard last month, warning it was prone to “inaccurate and dangerous statements,” the New York Times revealed on Friday, citing insiders familiar with the process. The apprehensive product reviewers had already noted issues with AI large language models such as Bard and its arch-competitor ChatGPT when Google’s chief lawyer met with research and safety executives to inform them the company was prioritizing AI over all else. The pair’s concerns about the chatbot producing false information, hurting users who became emotionally attached, or even unleashing “tech-facilitated violence” through synthetic mass harassment were subsequently downplayed by Responsible Innovation supervisor Jen Gennai, the sources claimed. While the reviewers had urged Google to wait before releasing Bard, Gennai allegedly edited their report to remove that recommendation entirely.

  • Four of the largest social media platforms, Google, Twitter, Meta, and TikTok have hired 248 ex-US government employees over five years, according to a Daily Caller investigation into hiring practices at the search and social media giants. Google was the most enthusiastic, picking up 130 ex-agents from the FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security, and the Justice Department, the outlet reported on Sunday, based on research using LinkedIn. Meta, which owns both Facebook and Instagram, welcomed 47 former government employees into its ranks, while Twitter absorbed 46 – including 20 from the FBI. TikTok took in 25 ex-feds, despite the Biden administration’s recent ban on using the app on any government device. Claiming that “the revolving door” between the tech industry and government has been a “feature of DC for as long as I can remember,” former US Deputy Associate Attorney General Reed Rubinstein told the Daily Caller that the alliance between the two should nevertheless leave Americans concerned. “The integration of Big Tech and the national security state… really it’s dystopian, it’s terrifying. They have enough data to show that power, which is immense, will be abused,” he said, warning that “right now, there is no effective check on it.”

  • Strange, deep-blue tinted creatures have made landfall across California. Beach-goers in Southern California were shocked to discover some out-of-this-world visitors Friday when hundreds of “by-the-wind sailors,” creatures which resemble jellyfish and are characterized by their astonishing blue colors, appeared on beaches near Orange County. As one California publication explained, “the creatures’ scientific name is Velella velellas, and they are distinguished by their ‘sails’ on top, which look like a clear mohawk.” The otherworldly specimens have reportedly been spotted making landfall as far as Huntington Beach, California, and South Bay to the north – but they’re also likely to make an appearance elsewhere, according to local experts.

  • Boston will host the “largest gathering of Satanists in history” April 28-30 2023. Satancon attendees must be 18 or over and have proof of COVID vaccination. Attendees must wear an N-95, KN-95, or disposable surgical mask. Gaiters, bandanas, and cloth masks will not be allowed.

  • A new simulation of millions of galaxies has shown just how powerful the forthcoming Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (Roman) will be when it opens its eye to the universe. NASA says that the telescope will turn back the “cosmic clock” and allow astronomers to see space in a way they never have before. This should help scientists understand how the universe evolved from a sea of densely packed particles into the cosmos we see today full of stars and galaxies. Set to launch no sooner than May 2027, Roman’s power to revolutionize astronomy lies in the fact that it will have the ability to capture vast regions of space in a single image. As a startling example of this boosted observing power, the simulation demonstrates how in just 63 days Roman can image an amount of sky that it would take the Hubble Space Telescope 85 years to capture.
