  • An art dealer in Palm Beach, Florida, Daniel Elie Bouaziz, has been indicted on federal charges for allegedly selling fake works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, Banksy, and more, Alex Greenberger reports in ARTnews. The dealer’s lawyer has not responded to a request for comment. Meanwhile, the New York Times reports that the F.B.I. Art Crime Team has been investigating 25 works billed as Basquiats in a show at the Orlando Museum of Art in Florida. The owners of the works say that they were discovered in 2012 in a storage locker that had been used by screenwriter Thad Mumford. Some experts have raised questions about the authenticity of the pieces; the museum’s director, Aaron De Groft, who has maintained that they are real, did not comment in the Times story.

  • Canada’s government introduced legislation to implement a “national freeze” on the sale and purchase of handguns as part of a gun control package that would also limit magazine capacities and ban some toys that look like guns.

  • White House aides frequently find themselves needing to clarifying the US president’s statements for the public and the press, especially when they are rich in gaffes and slip-ups. US President Joe Biden is reportedly frustrated with his White House aides for launching a “clean-up campaign” in efforts to “rush and explain” something that he says or does, according to NBC News. In March, Biden infamously claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power” in an ad-libbed remark during his speech in Poland. His statement prompted several aides to quickly walk the statement back and assure the public that the United States does not seek regime change in Russia. But the rush of his aides to explain or walk back his statement is not the only thing that Biden is irritated and unsettled about, the report continued. Additionally, he is triggered by low polling figures, particularly as they are lower than his predecessor Donald Trump. “He’s now lower than Trump [in the polls], and he’s really twisted about it,” a source close to the White House told NBC News.

  • A Mayan city has been discovered at a construction site near Merida, Mexico. Archaeologists believe that the area, which has buildings for people at various places in a social hierarchy, was inhabited by some 4,000 around the years 600 to 900 A.D.

  • A jury has found in favor of former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann, who was accused of lying to the FBI as part of an attempt to seed the Russiagate hoax in the 2016 election. Sussmann, a former federal prosecutor and former partner at legal firm Perkins Coie, was acquitted on Tuesday of a single charge of lying to federal investigators when he claimed he wasn’t “acting on behalf of any client” when he delivered to the FBI alleged evidence of a secret backchannel between the Russian Alfa Bank and the campaign of Clinton’s election rival, Republican candidate Donald Trump.

  • Authorities worked overnight to clear highways blocked by mudslides along Mexico’s southern coast as Tropical Storm Agatha barrelled down on the country, bringing torrential rains and strong winds.

  • US Republican Lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene has claimed that Bill Gates and the US government want to regulate what citizens eat. Specifically, she alleged that “they” do not want people to eat their favourite burgers, instead pushing “fake ones” made of synthetic meat.

  • Namibia joined the world in celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day on Saturday. HAMBELELENI Matsi, the chief executive officer of Diagnostic Lab, says no child should miss school due to menstruation. Matsi said this at a handing-over event of sanitary pads at State House last week. The day aims to highlight the importance of menstrual care and the issues those who do not have access to sanitary pads are faced with. The goal of awareness events is to make menstruation a normal part of life by 2030. Minister in the Presidency Christine //Hoëbes at the event said many women and girls around the globe are faced with stigma, are sidelined, and are treated unfairly due to this natural bodily function. Minister of finance Iipumbu Shiimi shortly thereafter announced that value-added tax on sanitary pads would be abolished in the 2022/23 financial year.

  • Shanghai authorities began dismantling fences around housing compounds and ripping police tape off public squares and buildings, to the relief of the city’s 25 million residents, before a painful two-month lockdown is lifted at midnight.

  • More people in the United States than ever before are turning to cryptocurrencies to help fund their retirement, it seems, even as the recent market carnage provides a stark reminder that this wild market is not for the faint-hearted.

  • Mexico’s Cemex, one of the largest concrete producers globally, said it would fully operate a cement plant in the UK on a type of alternative fuel, as the company looks to greatly reduce its CO2 emissions. The plant is Cemex’s first to fully operate on ‘Climafuel’, a mix of paper, cardboard, wood, carpet, textiles and plastics.

You can't reach anything if you don't dream about it. Everything in existence, was before conceived like a dream, everything achieved, was before thought. One thing is sure, if you can't imagine... you can't achieve.
